Cathal McLaughlin, Partner

Cathal McLaughlin (FCCA) is a fellow of the ACCA and during his career has covered every area of accounting and taxation services. He has 20 years experience in Inishowen and is a former partner at Carlin McLaughlin, one of the largest accounting practices in the North West. He qualified in 1993 and has worked across a wide range of sectors from hotel and hospitality, to engineering, manufacturing, medical and dental, and financial services. His special areas of expertise include business plans and projections, audits and tax investigations, funding applications, dealing with the banks on behalf of clients, and giving guidance and support on day-to-day business issues. What he really enjoys about the work is seeing how clients benefit from the expertise and experience MLMG can offer them – knowing they have made a real difference.

Philip McGonigle, Partner

Philip McGonigle (FCCA) previously held senior positions such as Group Financial Controller in the engineering and construction industries in the UK. In addition he has over 11 years consulting and senior accounting experience working with sole traders, farmers, small business and larger companies in Inishowen. Philip is a fellow of the ACCA, a qualified financial advisor and holds a Diploma in Insolvency from Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Declan O'Donnell, Practice Manager

At MLMG, Declan has 14 years experience in accountancy, including 2 years as office manager/assistant accountant with Donegal Meat Processors Ltd, and over 11 years with Carlin McLaughlin. While there he worked on accounts for sole traders and companies, income tax and Corporation Tax returns, and on all aspects of bookkeeping for business in relation to VAT, PAYE, RCT etc before becoming Accounts Manager, managing staff, their workload and the quality of their work, and liaising with clients. Declan moved to McLaughlin McGonigle when they opened in October 2011, and as Practice Manager he co-ordinates the workload and manages the quality of accounting work. He enjoys getting the best from the staff team to ensure that work is delivered on time and that clients get a service which covers everything they need.

Marie Donaghey, Client Support Manager

Marie is Practice Administrator with MLMG and has close to 20 years experience in the industry. She worked with local accounting firms PC Mc Guinness & Co, and Carlin McLaughlin, on book-keeping, accounts, Income Tax returns, reception, completion of manual VAT Returns, PAYE Returns and RCT Returns, and accounts preparation. She works with the accounting team in completing Accounts and submitting Income Tax Returns for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Directors, managing book-keeping teams, support work for in Revenue Audits, Social Welfare Inspections and NERA Inspections, and liaison with Revenue and Revenue Sheriff. She also meets clients and goes on-site to help with books and to complete records i.e. Bank Reconciliations, Payroll and VAT workings – one of her favourite things about the job. “They have their job to do and often don’t have the time or knowledge to keep the books as well, and that is where I come in.”

Rosemary Harrigan, Accountant

Rosemary has 11 years experience in the business and accounting environment. She has an in-depth knowledge of payroll, PAYE & PRSI, VAT, Income and Corporation Tax. Rosemary holds a Higher National Diploma in Business & Finance and a BA Hons Degree in Business. She enjoys working directly with her clients and resolving their financial issues.

Sharon Cassidy ACCA, Accountant

Sharon has an Honours Degree in Banking and Finance and over 11 years experience in the finance and accounting field. She spent more than 5 years with Hibernian General Insurance in Dublin working in areas like Fixed Asset registers, VAT returns, balance sheet reconciliation, credit control and support to corporate and individual customers. In 1995, she returned to Buncrana to join Carlin McLaughlin, working on sole trader and company accounts, completion and filing VAT, PAYE and Sub-contractor returns, and liaising between management, banks, solicitors and clients. What she enjoys most about her job at MLMG is finding the right answers for clients, saving them money and showing them the alternatives they could be looking at.

Siobhan McLaughlin, Financial Services Administrator
Siobhan has spent more than 22 years in the business and finance sector, and has worked with Lloyds Bank, First Trust Bank, Desmond and Sons and Carlin McLaughlin in accounts and administration, including wages, book-keeping and the completion of VAT, PAYE and Subcontractors RCT submissions. Siobhan has always loved working with figures and problem solving. She deals with clients every day and is driven “mainly by the satisfaction of delivering a really good service!”
Linda Doherty, Office Administrator
Linda is the one you will be talking to first at MLMG, whether you phone or call in personally. She takes all client queries, staffs the office reception desk, and deals with the day to day office administration duties. And it is this variety which she loves most about her job….
