Below are details of two upcoming October payroll deadlines that may be relevant to you:
1.Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) – July/August Sweepback
If you are an employer who qualifies for the EWSS you may now be able to back date an EWSS claim for employees who were ineligible for the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme (TWSS). To qualify for the TWSS the employee had to be on their employer’s payroll in January/February of this year. So seasonal workers or new hires after 1st March 2020 did not qualify. The EWSS July/August Sweepback now permits qualifying employers to make a claim for these previously ineligible employees for July and August.
Important note: Applications for the sweepback claim must be submitted to Revenue via ROS before 14th October 2020.
2.Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme (TWSS) Reconciliation
Revenue requires all employers who availed of the TWSS to upload a CSV file detailing the subsidy payments actually made to their employees. This will facilitate a reconciliation between the subsidy amounts refunded by Revenue to the employer and the amount of subsidy paid by the employer to their employees. If you use an electronic payroll system it should be able to generate this report for you.
Important note: This file must be submitted to Revenue via ROS before 31st October 2020.
After submission a statement of account will be sent to your ROS inbox indicating your net position, and you will either be paid any additional amount due to you or required to repay any overpayment owed to Revenue.
