PAYE Modernisation – What Employers must do before 31st October 2018

The first employer PAYE Modernisation deadline is fast approaching. All employers must submit up-to-date and accurate payroll information on all current employees to Revenue in file format via ROS. Revenue will compare their records to your list and highlight any discrepancies needing attention

1 – If you haven’t already done so make a point of attending one of the Revenue PAYE Modernisation roadshow events currently taking place in venues across the country. This will give you an insight into the changes and Revenue’s approach to them.

2 – As an employer you must be registered with ROS. You will need to print your P2C and compare this to your own records, addressing discrepancies e.g. where P45s were not issued to leavers these will now need to be processed.

3 – Employees who are not already registered with Revenue or who are new employees, must register with Revenue’s “MyAccount” and be set up as an employee. If they are having problems they need to contact Revenue on 1890 777 425 quoting their PPS number.
These registrations need to be addressed as matter of urgency.

4 – When 2 & 3 above are completed employers must submit up-to-date and accurate payroll information on all current employees to Revenue in file format via ROS. Revenue will compare their records to your list and highlight any discrepancies needing attention.

Failure to upload this list on or before the 31st October 2018 deadline runs the risk of any discrepancies not being resolved by 1st January 2019, resulting in a high possibility of employees suffering harsh emergency tax in their January payroll.
